Success in New York

The 13-Year-old cancer warrior and survivor Stefan Quint did the next step and represented Chindamanee School English Program, Bangkok, Thailand, at this year’s Genius Olympiad in Oswego, New York. The science project, which he presented together with his school mate Serra Yay, was about the use of seaweed to produce bio-plastic with the target to decrease plastic waste.

Around 1200 students from 72 countries attended the 8th Genius Olympiad. This year 406 out of 897 science projects was selected for the finals at the State University of New York in Oswego. Stefan and Serra were two of the youngest participants at this Olympiad and they received honorable mention, which is a fantastic good result for these young students.

Stefan got well-known in 2017 for his achievements at several International Mathematics Olympiads while fighting against Hodgkin’s Lymphoma receiving chemo therapy and radiation treatment and through his amazing attitude. Today the young boy is in remission and he is trying to raise awareness about Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a dangerous art of blood-cancer from which a lot of young children suffer.
